Del Mar has a quaint and sophisticated downtown village. Powerhouse Park has the most refined lawns in the area, plus a full-service beach. It's the closest beach to Zuni Delight or SeaView Cottage.
I have a dog. Where should I stay?
Del Mar's 25th Street Beach and Dog Beach have designated dog-friendly areas, game and no-game areas, surfing and no-surfing areas. It's a great family beach, within a 3-block walk of our original 2 BeachHaus properties. Joint Beach Bungalow duplex includes Shell Cottage and Octopus Hideaway. Your Family Compound has Turtle Retreat and Seahorse Cottage. It's an easy stroll to Powerhouse Park as well.
Solana Beach's low key, artsy vibe appeals to me. What are my best beaches for Solana Beach?
Brenda raised her kids at Fletcher Cove, playing in the waves and on the playground. It's about 5 doors down from our summer-only Hamptons Cottage by the Cove, and a short stroll from Sleek Solana Oceanfront, Seascape Front Row, and Jewel.
Cardiff State Beach has famous surf breaks, and tons of space for beach games. If you're staying at Tutu's Surf House, you can take a private trail straight to the beach. If you're staying at Retro Retreat, it is a beautiful one-mile, downhill hike through the lagoon.

Try Moonlight Beach for full, family-friendly amenities. If you want to feel more rugged—and are comfortable with bigger waves—Swami's is one of the top surf spots.

Torrey Pines State Beach is epic, worth the walk or tiny drive.
